2 min read

Greece have been placed in Group H of the 2021 FIBA EuroBasket qualifiers alongside Latvia, Bosnia and Bulgaria.

The Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany and Italy had already been confirmed as co-hosts of the 2021 EuroBasket competition on July 15.

Drawn into Group H with Latvia, Bosnia and Bulgaria, the Greeks will certainly expect to finish in first place, but nothing can be taken for granted. The 2021 EuroBasket qualifiers will be played across three windows on February 17-25, 2020, November 23-1 December, 2020 and February 15-23, 2021 with two games played by each team in every window.

The three highest-placed teams from each group, except the groups which include the 2021 EuroBasket hosts, will qualify for the 2021 EuroBasket. For the groups containing the 2021 EuroBasket hosts, the host and the two other highest placed teams will qualify for the tournament.

Munich Airport in Germany hosted the draw process on Monday.

DRAW FOR WOMEN’S EUROBASKET QUALIFIERS

Also in Munich, the draw for the 2021 Women’s EuroBasket qualifiers was held, as Greece were pitted against Iceland, Slovenia and Bulgaria in Group A.

The nine group winners and the five best second-placed teams will advance to the Final Round of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021. To determine the standings within a group, all games will be taken into account. To determine the five best second-placed teams out of the nine groups, the results against fourth-placed teams in the groups of four teams will be disregarded to compare the teams on a like-for-like basis.

The qualification to FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021 will be played over three windows on November 10-18, 2019, November 8-16, 2020 and January 31 – February 8, 2021.
