The FIA is trying to find a solution to the three clashes between the Formula E and the World Endurance Championship calendars in 2019\/20, says the governing body’s President Jean Todt. The 2018\/19 ABB FIA FE calendar was revealed after last week\u2019s World Motor Sport Council meeting and its two ‘TBA’ slots on December 14 2019<\/g> and March 21 2019, as well as the new Seoul race (May 3 2020), clash with<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The FIA is trying to find a solution to the three clashes between the Formula E and the World Endurance Championship calendars in 2019\/20, says the governing body’s President Jean Todt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2018\/19 ABB FIA FE calendar was revealed after last week\u2019s World Motor Sport Council meeting<\/g><\/a> and<\/g> its two ‘TBA’ slots on December 14 2019<\/g> and March 21 2019, as well as<\/g> the new Seoul race (May 3 2020), clash with WEC races in Bahrain, at Sebring and Spa respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam Bird, Jose Maria Lopez, Sebastien Buemi<\/a>, Andre Lotterer<\/a>, Antonio Felix da Costa raced full-time in both series in 2018\/19, with Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne<\/a> entering selected races of the WEC superseason<\/g> alongside their FE commitments, while Aston Martin GTE driver Alex Lynn joined Jaguar for the second half of the current FE season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the situation during the 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours, Todt said: \u201cHonestly, I have other things to do in my agenda [than] to look<\/g> carefully [at] the calendar.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI realised when the calendar was proposed that effectively there are some clashes between some events.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI made a calendar commission, where people were due to sit together and to work [together].\u00a0If you have a commission [and] people don\u2019t meet, I\u2019m sorry about that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is probably some misunderstanding and some difficulties about<\/g><\/g> the calendars. It\u2019s something I\u2019ve been expressing very often.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have 52 weekends in the year and we were mentioning the number of<\/g> events we have \u2013 so, unfortunately, <\/g>here are some clashes between some events and some championships.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClearly, we know that there is interest<\/g> with certain drivers to participate<\/g> to<\/g> both championships.\u00a0So now in light of what has happened<\/g> I\u2019ve already asked my people to see if some solutions could be found.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI must say it\u2019s not easy \u2013 because each championship has its own<\/g> needs, own problems to solve. But if it\u2019s something which we can improve<\/g> we will do it. That\u2019s all I can say.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked if the solutions would involve changes to the 2019\/20 FE calendar, Todt said that would be the case \u201cIf we can\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery year you don\u2019t have the magic stick,\u201d he explained.\u00a0\u201cWe say<\/g> \u2018ok, with 52 weekends and 100s of races we will do something where there<\/g> is no problem\u2019 \u2013 so it will always be a problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI simply feel a bit unsatisfied that this calendar commission did<\/g> not meet to try to address the problem before. But it\u2019s never [too] late to try.\u201d\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
