The Jamaican clocked 10.78 in a very slight wind to eclipse her own six-year meeting record, leaving home favourite Dina Asher-Smith behind thanks to a blistering start.
Asher-Smith finished second in 10.92 with Marie-Josee Ta Lou third with a time of 10.98.
A host of keynote performances in the field were led by Daniel Stahl who smashed Gerd Kanter’s discus meeting record from 2010 with a 68.56 hurl.
The Swede, whose third throw blew the field out of the water, continued a fine run of form that saw him clear 70 metres at Diamond League Doha and also emerge victorious from DL Oslo.
Two medallists from the 2017 World Championships in London went toe-to-toe in the high jump, with Mutaz Barshim settling for second and Majededdin Ghazal’s 2.30 clearance.
On his return to competitive action after 18 months on the sidelines, the Qatari cleared 2.27 at the third attempt but two failures at 2.30 saw him bow out.
A breakneck women’s 5000m was claimed by Hellen Obiri, who outlasted Mile world record holder Sifan Hassan and fast-finishing Agnes Tirop, cutting the tape at 14:20.36.
The double Diamond Trophy winner led at the bell and made her rivals pay on the back straight, surging to a world lead and meeting record.
“I am so happy because this is my favourite track and I have done my best and I ran the way I wanted to,” said the Kenyan.
“In the last lap I was thinking, work hard and I said to myself when I went past Hassan: ‘let me go and see if you can catch me.”
Great Britain’s World Championship-winning 4x100m men’s quartet romped to victory in a meeting record 37.60, a searing penultimate leg from Richard Kilty paving the way for their triumph.
And among the Brits, Sophie Hahn stopped a matter of milliseconds short of breaking the world record she set at this meet a year ago but claimed comfortable T35-38 victory with 12.45.
It was a superb day for the Chinese contingent, with Zhenye Xie shocking the world with an area record in the non-Diamond League 200m and Wenjun Xie dipping to win
